Principles and limits

Examine the reading and its limits

MoatDefender explains what the Moat Index reads and what each result contains. The Moat Index is a dated opinion on competitive defensibility. Supporting evidence and uncertainty belong beside the number. The questions, computation and internal method remain proprietary.

Try your ideaAn opinion on defensibility. Not investment advice.

The purpose of a reading

A useful reading makes a competitive claim open to examination. Read the supporting material, dates and limitations before choosing a next action. A persuasive deck does not independently establish a durable advantage.

The record matters

Each reading records a range, band, confidence, method version and date. A later reading may reflect different evidence or a different method. Preserve the original record when making comparisons.

Validation has limits

Internal validation does not establish calibration against future business outcomes. Expert agreement and outcome validation remain research. The Moat Index does not establish a valuation or predict returns.

A closed computation

MoatDefender keeps the computation and internal method private. Public documentation explains the result and its scope. Qualified parties can contact MoatDefender about a detailed review under NDA.
